Claudia Miraz
Born in Venezuela, Claudia moved to the United States at age 13. She was born with a condition called arthrogryposis, which causes joint contractures in all her limbs and limits movement, preventing her muscles from developing typically. But thanks to her parents—who raised her just like any other child—Claudia learned early on to do things differently, not let challenges define her. Over the years, she has undergone more than twelve surgeries, each one strengthening her determination to live life without limits.
A proud graduate of Florida International University with a degree in International Business, Claudia never allowed her disability to interfere with her goals. She now works full-time in the healthcare field and serves as an ambassador for the Grit Freedom Chair, empowering others to experience independence and adventure.
Claudia has been part of the Nirvana family since its inception, participating in running events, triathlons, and Spartan races. She’s also been featured by the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and has taken part in adaptive sports such as Nordic skiing and sled hockey.
“Since I started doing adaptive sports with the Nirvana Project seven years ago, my life has completely changed,” Claudia says. “I’ve learned to see the world without limitations. Meeting others with disabilities who love adaptive sports has inspired me to keep pushing, try new things, and live life to the fullest.”
As Claudia always says, “Just find a way to do it.” #noexcuses
